Post any questions you may have concerning cassettes and we will promptly return an answer.

1. How would my practice benefit from using dental cassettes?

A number of benefits can be realized. Properly designed cassette systems expand the life of all instruments placed in them. Cassettes help save time and mistakes in setting up your procedural layout . Cassettes meet OSHA safety requirements.

2. Why would one purchase a stainless steel cassette over a composite material?

The useful life of composite materials is definitely shorter than stainless steel. Also stainless steel cassettes clean more efficiently in Ultra Sonic Cleaners than do composite material cassettes.

3. Are these cassettes actually sterilization cassettes?

No, almost all cassettes used in dental practices are actually management system cassettes, requiring some type of FDA approved wrap or pouches to actually maintain the post sterilization sterility of the instruments.

4. What sterilizers can cassettes be used with?

Primarily in the dental field all autoclaves and Chem-claves are compatible with a stainless steel cassette system.

5. What about the Statim Sterilizer with it's cassette tray?

Yes, in fact Universal Cassettes has a complete line of cassettes specifically designed to maximize the space available within the Statim Sterilizer.

6. What type of stainless steel is used in most cassettes?

Normally the steel is a 304 stainless steel, but can vary from company to company. Universal Cassettes uses 304 stainless and 22 gauge for the majority of our products.

7. Can dissimilar metals be placed in the stainless steel cassettes?
i.e. aluminum, carbon instruments

Yes, but it is not the best practice and if possible should be avoided. It is possible to create a galvanic reaction between the dissimilar metals and thus cause pitting and possible other adverse reactions.

8. Will the stainless steel, used in the cassettes, rust?

Normally and for all practical purposes the answer is no. What may appear as rust is usually residual organic matter from usage/cleaning or machining processes which may be baked on to the surface. These stains can almost always be removed - usually quite easily.

9. What causes spotting on the stainless steel cassettes?

Slow and or improper water condensation evaporation can cause light and/or dark spotting. This is not cause for alarm or concern and absolutely causes no physical damage.

10. Can stainless steel cassettes be modified?

Yes, we often modify cassettes for our clients, modification is an additional charge. We also do design and build prototypes. Contact us directly with your ideas and prints.

11. What type of warranty is offered on the Universal Cassettes?

We offer a 100% warranty on materials and workmanship for five (5) years, including all internal parts.  Additionally we offer a 100% warranty for the life of the cassette on the thermoplastic rod hinge.  We do not cover misuse or abuse, although, at our discretion, we will repair and/or replace items damaged in accidents for a nominal charge.
